Chief HAGS Visits Area of Responsibility of D Army Corps

On Thursday, 30 May 2019, the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kambas, visited the Area of Responsibility of D Army Corps, accompanied by its Commanding General, Lieutenant General Haralambos Lalousis.

The Chief visited the Headquarters of the 3rd Mechanised Brigade "RIMINI" and the 21st Mechanised Infantry Regiment Tactical Command "DRAMA".

During his visit, he was given a tour of the sites where Professional Soldier military housing quarters are under construction, was briefed on current activities by the Formation Commanders, addressed the personnel, and provided guidelines.

Commemoration Event in the Prefecture of Xanthi, in honour of the Fallen Muslims of WW2

On Friday 17 May 2019, a commemoration event in honour of the Fallen Greek Muslims who served in the Armed Forces, fought and fell during the WW2 battles, took place in Oraio village, of the Municipality of Miki in the Prefecture of Xanthi.

The event was attended by the Commander of D’ Army Corps (“THRAKI”), Lieutenant General Charalambos Laloussis, the Mayor of the Municipality of Miki Mr. Kabza Cemil, MPs, local authorities’ representatives, military representatives and several people; in the event participated the descendants of the fallen, students of the Oraio village Elementary School and the Nursery’s infants who, with poems and songs, paid homage to their deceased ancestors.

Chief HAGS’ presence at the Tank Crews Competition in Xanthi

On Thursday 30 May 2019, Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kampas, visited the Field of Fire and Exercise, in Petrochori-Xanthi.

The Chief observed the Competition between type-Leopard 1A5 Tank Crews, carried out by personnel of Armour Units (Battalions) of the Land Army.

The competition constitutes an evaluation of the crews in operational procedures with measurable tests which focus on matters of small components’ tactic, fire technique and tank technical matters. 2019 is the second year in a row this competition takes place, since the Hellenic Army General Staff aims at establishing it as a reward practice among Armour personnel.

On Friday, 31 May 2019, Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kampas, visited the Supreme Joint War College.

The Chief gave a lecture on “Challenges – Choices – Perspectives for the Hellenic Army General Staff” and answered the queries raised by the College’s students.

Seminar held by the Mobile Training Team (MTT)

From 13 to 24 May 2019, the Office of Defense Cooperation (ODC) organized a seminar on Foreign Military Sales (FMS) at the Hellenic Armed Forces Officers’ Club.

The seminar was attended by 38 Armed Forces – Hellenic Coast Guard personnel and was held by the Mobile Training Team (MTT) of the Defence Institute for Security Cooperation Steady (DISCS) personnel.
