Visit of the Army Inspector General to the Area of Responsibility of the 4th Army Corps

The Army Inspector General Lieutenant General Antonios Nomikos conducted an official visit to the Area of Responsibility of the 4th Army Corps from 11 to 13 June 2019.

The Army Inspector General, accompanied by the Commander of the 4th Army Corps Lieutenant General Charalambos Lalousis, visited Formations at the areas of Xanthi and Komotini.

The high degree of readiness, the functionality of assets and the exceptional morale of the personnel serving in the units of the 4th Army Corps were ascertained.

Chief of HAGS visits Serbia

On 11-12 June 2019, the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff Lieutenant General Georgios Kampas paid an official visit to Serbia, invited by the Commander of the Serbian Army, Lieutenant General Milosav Simovic.

The Chief of HAGS visited the “JUG” Base where he was briefed on the activities and infrastructure of the Multinational Operations Training Centre. He also observed a demonstration by troops participating in the Multinational Peace Support Operation Exercise “PLATINUM WOLF 19”.

They discussed topics of mutual interest regarding the fields of cooperation between the armies of Greece and Serbia, such as training and participation in exercises.

During the visit, the Chief was accompanied by Greece’s Defence Attaché to Serbia.

Field Exercise "STRIKE BACK/BS/BRE 2019" Opening Ceremony

On 07 June 2019, a ceremony was held to kick off exercise "STRIKE BACK/BS/BRE 2019" at the Novo Selo Training Area (NSTA) in Bulgaria, in which the Hellenic Army participates with personnel and assets of the XXV Armoured Brigade and the 1st Army Aviation Brigade.

The participation of Hellenic Army troops in this exercise is part of the Military Cooperation Programmes with land forces of Balkan countries and United States Army Europe (USAREUR).

Hellenic Military Academy (Evelpidon) 4th Class Cadet Field Trip

From Tuesday, 04 June, to Friday, 07 June 2019, 4th class cadets of the Hellenic Military Academy (Evelpidon) visited the Headquarters of the Hellenic First Army/EU-OHQ "AHILLEAS" and the Area of Responsibility of D Army Corps "THRAKI".

During their visit to the Headquarters of the Hellenic First Army/EU-OHQ "AHILLEAS" on Tuesday, 04 June 2019, they were briefed on its work and activities, as well as on the mission of the Hellenic EU Operational Headquarters (EU-OHQ).

Annual Memorial Service in Honour of Fallen Raiders and Members of the Sacred Band in Kavouri, Attica

On Sunday, 09 June 2019, the annual memorial service was held in memory of the raiders and members of the Sacred Band killed during our Nation's struggles, in the Mountain Commando Companies’ Monument in Kavouri, Attica.

This ceremony was established by the founder of the Special Forces, Major General Andreas Kallinskis and it is held every year, organized by the Special Forces Directorate of HAGS.

The service was attended by the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kampas, the Hellenic Army Inspector General, Lieutenant General Antonios Nomikos, the Special Forces Director Major General Evangelos Papadopoulos, MPs, Honorary Chiefs of HAGS, representatives of local authorities and of Army personnel, and crowds of people.
