Visit by the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff to the Area of Responsibility of the I Infantry Division

On Thursday, 20 June 2019, the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kambas, visited the Askos Profitis Proving Ground – Range and the Military Airfield of Alexandria, Imathia, accompanied by the Commanding General of the I Infantry Division "SMYRNI", Major General Savvas Kolokouris.

During his visit, the Chief attended the operational training conducted by mechanised forces and Special Forces in cooperation with 1st Army Aviation Brigade helicopters.

The visit confirmed the high readiness level, the proper condition of assets, and the high morale of the personnel.

Field Exercise "STRIKE BACK/BS/BRE 2019" Distinguished Visitors Day

Wednesday, 19 June 2019, was the Distinguished Visitors Day for exercise "STRIKE BACK/BS/BRE -19" which was conducted from 06 to 20 June 2019 at the Novo Selo Training Area (NSTA) in Bulgaria, in which the Hellenic Army participated with personnel and assets of the XXV Armoured Brigade and the 1st Army Aviation Brigade.

Greece was represented by the Greek Ambassador in Bulgaria, Mr. Grigorios Vasilokonstantakis, the Commanding General of D Army Corps "THRAKI", Lieutenant General Haralambos Lalousis, the Commanding General of the XX Armoured Division, Major General Antonios Hatzigeorgiou, and the Commanding General of the XXV Armoured Brigade, Brigadier General Georgios Triantis.

The exercise took place in an excellent atmosphere of cooperation among the cooperating forces from various countries.

On Friday, 21 June 2019, the oath-taking ceremony of Second Lieutenants, Class of 2019, was held at the Hellenic Military Academy (Evelpidon) in Vari, Attica, in the presence of His Excellency, the President of the Republic, Mr. Prokopis Pavlopoulos, who awarded the Officer's swords to the new Officers.

On Monday, 18 June 2019, a formal ceremony was held at the Hellenic Military Academy (Evelpidon) in Vari, Attica, to award an honorary doctorate from the Hellenic Military Academy (Evelpidon) to Rector Eleni Glykatzi – Ahrweiler.

The ceremony was attended by the Minister of National Defence, Mr. Evangelos Apostolakis, the Chief HAGS, Lieutenant General Georgios Kambas, representatives of the religious authorities and local government, members of faculty, and military and civilian personnel of the Academy.

Field Exercises "DIMOKRITOS-19" – "XANTHOS-19" and Floating Craft Training

The final phase of Field Exercises "DIMOKRITOS-19" and "XANTHOS-19" was conducted on 12 and 13 June 2019 by Second Lieutenants in the broader area of Thrace on tasks concerning the tactical use of Arms and Corps during all phases of combat. The activity constituted the capping stone of their training in Application Schools.

The exercise was attended by the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kambas, accompanied by the Army Inspector General, the Commanding General of D Army Corps, and the Directors of Arms and Corps of HAGS.
