The Austrian Land Forces Commander, Lieutenant General Franz Reissner, visited the Hellenic Army General Staff on Wednesday, 15 May 2019.

His visit included discussions on matters of mutual interest concerning areas of cooperation between the Land Forces of Greece and Austria, while Lieutenant General Franz Reissner and the Chief HAGS, Lieutenant General Georgios Kambas, attended an exercise at the Engineer School in Loutraki, Corinthia.

The exercise involved Engineer, Army Aviation, and Medical Corps personnel and assets, while the tactical scenario was support of natural disaster relief efforts.

Delivery of OH-58D Kiowa Warrior and CH-47 Chinook Helicopters

On Thursday, 16 May 2019, OH-58D Kiowa Warrior and CH-47 Chinook helicopters from the US were delivered to Greece. The Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kambas, accompanied by the Army Aviation Director, Major General Christos Iliopoulos, visited the area to attend the process.

The helicopters flew with mixed crews consisting of Greek and American pilots. The air assets have been characterised as immediately usable and are expected to become fully operational soon.

Event at the 401 Army General Hospital of Athens on the occasion of the International Nurses Day

On Tuesday 14 May 2019, an event on the occasion of the celebration of the International Nurses Day was held at the amphitheatre of the 401 Army General Hospital of Athens.

The aim of this action was to inform the personnel of the Medical Corps and included lectures by distinguished scientists, academic and military doctors on the latest developments in Nursing.

The event was attended by the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kampas, who delivered an address and praised the work of the military nursing staff.

Meetings between Chief HAGS and the Defence Attachés of Russia, China and Albania

The Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kampas, had meetings in the last month at this office with the Defence Attachés of foreign states in Greece, in the framework of a visit of courtesy, as follows:
-     Defence Attaché of Russia, Major General Alexander Prikhodko.
-    Defence Attaché of China, Senior Colonel Dazhuang Xu.
-     Defence Attaché of Albania, Colonel Roland Berzani.
At the meetings, matters of mutual interest were discussed.

Celebration of the Army Aviation Commemoration and Honor Day

On Tuesday, 07 May 2019, a Commemoration Day event took place at the 1st Army Aviation Brigade Headquarters in Stefanovikio airfield, Magnisia, on the Commemoration Day of the members that fell in action, honoring as well the active and retired members of the Army Aviation and the Technical Corps.
Upon conclusion of the ceremony, a ground demonstration of the Brigade’s air assets was carried out.
