On Friday 17 May 2019, a commemoration event in honour of the Fallen Greek Muslims who served in the Armed Forces, fought and fell during the WW2 battles, took place in Oraio village, of the Municipality of Miki in the Prefecture of Xanthi.

The event was attended by the Commander of D’ Army Corps (“THRAKI”), Lieutenant General Charalambos Laloussis, the Mayor of the Municipality of Miki Mr. Kabza Cemil, MPs, local authorities’ representatives, military representatives and several people; in the event participated the descendants of the fallen, students of the Oraio village Elementary School and the Nursery’s infants who, with poems and songs, paid homage to their deceased ancestors.
