On Thursday, 13 December 2018, the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff Lieutenant General Alkiviadis Stefanis visited the XXIV Armoured Brigade Headquarters (1st Cavalry Regiment-Florina), in Litochoro, and the 424th Army General Hospital, in Thessaloniki.

The Chief addressed the personnel of the Staff, the Units and the Independent Sub-Units of the XXIV Armoured Brigade and 424th Army General Hospital, and congratulated them on their important contribution; he also exchanged wishes, in view of the Christmas and New Year's Eve holidays.

Field Artillery Fires in NATO Missiles Firing Installation in Crete

On 12 and 13 December 2018, in the context of the operational training, Field Artillery fires were executed in the NATO Missiles Firing Installation in Crete, with the participation of personnel and assets from Units of the Hellenic 1st Army and the Higher Military Command of Interior and Islands. The fire execution included the following Weapon systems:

-Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS).

-Howitzer PhH (Panzer) 2000GR.

-Howitzer M109A5.

The fires were executed through the use of explosives and bomblet ammunition, engaging targets at sea with great precision. The maximum fire range reached 35,000 meters.

HAGS Inspector General – Deputy Chief of Staff visits Ioannina Prefecture Units

On 10 and 11 December 2018, HAGS Inspector General-Deputy Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Nikolaos Manouris visited the following Formations and Units in Ioannina Prefecture:

-The 8th Motorized Brigade Headquarters "VIII Infantry Division-EPIRUS", as well as all the Units, Independent Sub-Units and Surveillance Posts of the Formation.

-The 17th Mobilization Unit.

During the visits, HAGS Inspector General-Deputy Chief of Staff was informed on their current activities, he was guided in their facilities and addressed the personnel, discussing matters of interest.

Artillery and Mortar Fires Execution in the Area of Responsibility of D Army Corps

On 11 and 12 December 2018, in the context of the operational training, Artillery and Mortar Fires were executed, at "PSILOS STALOS" Firing Range, Evros prefecture, with the participation of personnel and assets from Units of the 30th Mechanized Brigade "TOMORITSA".

Our personnel executed day and night fires with precision, using Self-propelled howitzer M109A3GEA2, PzH2000GR and M106 Armoured Mortar Carriers 4,2''.

During this two-day period, the training was conducted under realistic conditions and the whole procedure of targeting and fire support was assessed. Improved techniques and procedures of target engagement were implemented.

We are proud of our personnel!!!

The Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff attends Night Training at the Unconventional Warfare Training Center

On Tuesday, 11 December 2018, the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff Lieutenant General Alkiviadis Stefanis visited the Unconventional Warfare Training Centre, at Rentina, Thessaloniki Prefecture.

During this time period, in the Unconventional Warfare Training Center, the 2018 Class NCOs (Sergeants) are under training at the School of Arms Servicemen and Other Services; a training session is also conducted at the Raiders School.

During his visit, the Chief attended a tactical exercise, in which the NCOs (Sergeants) and the Raiders School trainees were jointly examined in various subjects.

After the termination of the exercise, he addressed the personnel, the trainers and the trainees:

-He praised the high educational outcome and the educational level of the Unconventional Warfare Training Centre’s trainers.
