Events

On Friday, 23 November 2018, an event was held at “PAPAGOU” Camp by the Hellenic Army General Staff regarding “Operational Planning”.

The meeting aimed at demonstrating the military way of planning, the knowledge of the methodology used in successful organizations-agencies other than the Army and the common approaches and “best practices” among them.

The Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff Lieutenant General Alkiviadis Stefanis announced the meeting’s proceedings.

There were four speakers, as follows:

-“NRDC-GR HQ Transformation Operational Plan”, a speech delivered by Colonel (ARTY) Themistoklis Nikoglou, of NRDC-GR.

 

During the first fortnight of November 2018, in the context of the personnel’s operational training and the maintenance of the Units’ high operational readiness, weapon systems’ day and night fires were executed, as follows:

-Tanks crews’ fires by the 3rd Mechanised Brigade “RIMINI” Units, by the XXI Armoured Brigade “CAVALRY BRIGADE-PINDOS” and by the XXV Armoured Brigade “2nd CAVALRY REGIMENT-EFESSOS”, in Xanthi Tanks’ Firing Range.
-Heavy Infantry Weapons and Artillery Fires by the 50th Mechanised Brigade “APSOS”, in Psilos Stalos Firing Range.
-Helicopters and Attack Helicopters Fires, in Litochoro Firing Range.

From Sunday 18 November to Tuesday 20 November 2018, the Deputy Minister of National Defence Maria Kollia-Tsaroucha, accompanied by the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff Lieutenant General Alkiviadis Stefanis, visited Formations, Units, Services and Surveillance Outposts in D Army Corps Area of Responsibility.

The Hellenic Army General Staff keeps on planning and implementing actions, aiming at constantly training and informing the personnel about important topics of our time, such as the environmental protection, management and organization.

In this context, on Tuesday, November 13th 2018, a Meeting entitled “Environmental Protection through Energy Management” was organized by the XII Mechanised Infantry Division “EVROS” at the Alexandroupolis Guard Officers’ Club.

Current concerns, technological developments, as well as actions developed by the Division, with regard to the waste management (disposal) at source pilot program, were presented at the Meeting.

On Friday, November 16th 2018, the diploma award ceremony for 16 graduate members of the 104th Raiders’ Course and 9 graduate members of the Army Aviation Escape Evasion Survival Course was held at the headquarters of the Unconventional Warfare Training Centre in Rentina – Thessaloniki.

The Raiders’ Course of 13 weeks in length commenced on August 20th 2018 and provides amongst others training to members of the Special Forces in special forces tactics, mountain battle, unconventional warfare and amphibious operations.

The Army Aviation Escape Evasion Survival Course of 2 weeks in length commenced on November 05th 2018 and provides to trainees – Army Aviation pilots amongst others training in survival and escape.

The diplomas were awarded to graduates by the Commander of the C Army Corps “MEGAS ALEXANDROS”, Lieutenant General Dimitrios Bikos.
