The National Tank Platoon Competition “OYMA 2024” took place from 05 to 09 February 2024 among Hellenic First Army/EU OHQ "ACHILLEAS” Armoured Units operating the LEO1A5 MBT at the Litohoro Tank Range.


The Tank Platoons were evaluated on operational procedures with measurable objective criteria, focusing, among others, on small echelon tactics, firing technique, and tank-related technical matters.


The final scores of the Platoons were based on the time required for each crew to complete the tasks and the individual scoring of their skills, particularly the accuracy of the shots fired.

The oath-taking ceremonies of 2024 A Enlistment Series Newly Recruited Soldiers took place on Friday, 09 February 2024.
The oath-taking ceremony at Camp “THEODORAKI” in Rethymno was attended by the Deputy Minister of National Defence, Mr. Ioannis Kefalogiannis.

The oath-taking ceremonies took place in the presence of Army General Officers, as representatives of the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, state and religious authorities, as well as family members of the newly recruited soldiers.

Chief HAGS Visits Hellenic First Army Headquarters

On Thursday, the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, visited the headquarters of the Hellenic First Army/EU OHQ "ACHILLEAS”, where he was welcomed by its Commanding General, Lieutenant General Dimokritos Konstantakos.


During the visit, the Chief was briefed on the Hellenic First Army/EU OHQ's mission and operational and training activities. He then gave a short address and provided guidelines to the personnel. Later, he visited the European Union Operational Headquarters, where he was given a short briefing and tour of the headquarters.

XXI Armoured Brigade Operational Training

From 05 to 09 February 2024, the XXI Armoured Brigade “PINDOS” conducted operational training in its Area of Responsibility.


The training tested multiple operational tasks and procedures in order to increase the operational readiness of the Formation's Units. The training included, among others, small arms, heavy infantry weapon, and tank fire training.

Base Support Command Headquarters Inauguration Ceremony

On Wednesday, 07 February 2024, a ceremony was held at Camp “KARAISKAKI B” in Haidari for the inauguration of the new Headquarters of the Base Support Command.

The ceremony was attended by the Chief of Hellenic National Defence General Staff, General Dimitrios Choupis, the Very Reverend Archimandrite Nikolaos Krassas as representative of the Metropolitan of Nikea, the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, the Honorary Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, General Charalampos Lalousis (ret.), the Commanding General of the Hellenic Army Support Command "AEGEAS”, Lieutenant General Dimitrios Bolomytis, the Chief of Staff of the Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Dimitrios Vakentis, active duty and retired Officers, and other guests.
