Newly Enlisted Professional Soldier Oath-taking Ceremonies

On Thursday, 8 December 2022, the oath-taking ceremonies of newly enlisted Professional Soldiers of the Army and the Common Legal Corps took place at the Armour Training Centre in Avlonas, Attica, and the Special Forces Training Centre in Nea Peramos, Attica, in the presence of the Army Inspector General – Commander of the Doctrine and Training Command, Lieutenant General Nikolaos Flaris, and the Commanding General of the Special Warfare Command of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Tsitsikostas, respectively.

A total of 812 Arms and Corps, 182 Special Forces, and 20 Common Legal Corps Professional Soldiers took the oath.

Induction Ceremony for Engineer Machinery Acquired via NSRF

On Thursday, 8 December 2022, a ceremony was held at Camp “LOHAGOU KAPOTA” for the induction of 20 Engineer Machinery – Special-Purpose Vehicles and bridge construction equipment to the Hellenic Army, which were acquired with funding from the 2014-2022 NSRF Programme (valued at €8,990,200) of the Region of Attica, in addition to the 36 Engineer Machinery already received via NSRF Programme.


The ceremony was attended by the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Charalampos Lalousis, the Head of the Region of Attica, Giorgos Patoulis, and the Commanding General of the Higher Army Support Military Command “THISEAS”, Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis.

Infantry Combat Squad Competition

From 30 November to 5 December 2022, an Infantry Combat Squad Competition took place at Camps “EPILARCHOU PROKOPIDI THOMA” and “ALESTA LOUKA”, in the presence of the Commanding General of C Army Corps/NRDC-GR "MEGAS ALEXANDROS", Lieutenant General Sotirios Kostakoglou, among squads from the Corps’s Formations.

The competition included the following tasks:

- Rifle and grenade launcher operational firing.

- Battlefield first aid and wounded soldier carry.
- Land Navigation.

- Squad Leader Order Production.

- Infantry Squad Formations.

Sword Award Ceremony and Presentation of Awards to Military Plants

On Wednesday, 7 December 2022, a ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Higher Army Support Military Command “THISEAS” for the award of the Officer’s sword to Army Officers other than graduates of the Hellenic Military Academy (Evelpidon) and the Corps Officer Military Academy. The swords were awarded by the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Charalampos Lalousis.

Similar ceremonies took place at the headquarters of Major Commands – Formations across Greece.

After the ceremony, the Chief presented awards to the 308th Forward Base Plant for best Military Plant and to the 2nd Air Asset Intermediate Maintenance Workshop for best helicopter maintenance unit, within the framework of the Army Technical Equipment Maintenance Year.

Celebration of Saint Barbara, Patron Saint of the Artillery

On Sunday, 4 December 2022, a ceremony was held at the Artillery School in Camp “Tagmatarhi (PB) Georgiadi Thoma” in Nea Peramos, Attica, to celebrate the Patron Saint of the Artillery, the Great Martyr Saint Barbara.


The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament, Mr. Athanasios Bouras, as representative of the Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament, Members of Parliament and party representatives, the Chief of Hellenic National Defence General Staff, General Konstantinos Floros, the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Charalampos Lalousis, Archimandrite Konstantinos Kolessias as representative of the Metropolitan of Megara and Salamis, who officiated the ceremony, as well as local government representatives.
