Address of the Chief HAGS at a Scientific Event of the Non-Profit Company AKOS

On Sunday, June 03rd 2018, the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Alkiviadis Stefanis, as guest of honor, addressed the event “Histories of Soul, The Clock of Life” organized by the Non-Profit Company AKOS at Crown Plaza Hotel in Athens.

The Chief, in his address, stated amongst others the following:

HAGS considers the “human being” as its most valuable weapon system and at the same time, its most significant force multiplier.
The recent conclusion of the memorandum of cooperation between HAGS and AKOS on the joint organization and conduct of scientific events, conferences and workshops for updating the personnel on cancer prevention issues is the practical expression of the welfare for the personnel.
Optimism, smile, positive attitude and faith constitute crucial elements in our good health and AKOS contribution in this field is particularly important.

Conduct of “STINGER Guided Missile” Antiaircraft fire at the ΝΑΤΟ Missile Firing Installation

From June 04th to June 06th 2018, the “STINGER” guided missile Antiaircraft Fire was conducted, with the use of live ammunition on guided targets at the NATO Missile Firing Installation.

Personnel specialized in “STINGER” Guided Missile operation from all Commands and Artillery Units of the Hellenic 1 Army/”ACHILLEAS” and the Higher Military Command of Interior and Islands/”AEGEAS” participated in the fire.

The above fire, which has been a great success, proved the high level of training of “STINGER” guided missile operators, the great reliability and the high rate of accuracy of the said missile.

Presence of the Chief HAGS at the Training of National Guard Unit of the C’ Army Corps “MEGAS ALEXANDROS”

On Saturday, June 09th 2018, the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Alkiviadis Stefanis, attended the training of Militiamen from the National Guard Battalions of Igoumenitsa, Kalpaki and Corfu, the C’ Army Corps “MEGAS ALEXANDROS”, which was held at the premises of the National Urban Operations Centre of Excellence in Kilkis.

The activity was organized and performed in an exceptional way, based on international urban operations standards, in a contemporary training environment. The optimism, the exceptional discipline and the high morale of our militiamen confirm once again the reason why our National Guard Forces are considered to be amongst the most important Force Multipliers of the Army.

The Active Army, the Reserve Forces and the National Guard ensure our territorial integrity.

Participation of Servicemen from the Parachutists’ School in the International Jump Week in Ramstein – Germany

From Monday 21st to Friday 25th of May 2018, the International Jump Week was held in Ramstein – Germany with the participation of military personnel from 10 countries (USA, United Kingdom, Spain, Estonia, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Canada, Poland and Greece).

It is the first time that our Country participates in the said event, by sending a delegation of 5 servicemen (2 Officers and 3 Non-Commissioned Officers) from the Special Forces and in particular, the Parachutists’ School.

The Greek delegation performed static line and free-fall parachute jumps. Moreover, it also performed the tasks of a Jumpmaster for the jumping of foreign parachutist delegations.

Oath Taking Ceremonies of Newly Recruited Conscripts of 2018 C’ Enlistment Series at Conscripts Reception Centers

On Thursday 07th and Friday 08th June 2018, the oath taking ceremonies of Newly Recruited Conscripts of 2018 C’ Enlistment Series were held at the Conscripts Reception Centers.

The ceremonies were held in the presence of representatives from the Armed Forces, the local religious and state authorities, as well as friends and relatives of the Conscripts.

Conscripts were granted a Travel Order, so that they would report for duty at the Units where they have been assigned. 

We wish them all the best in their service!
