On Saturday, 04 November 2023, a ceremony was held at Camp “KONSTANTINOU TRIANTAFYLLIDI” in Petrohori, Xanthi, for the opening of the Tank Platoon Competition among Armoured Units of the Hellenic First Army/EU-OHQ “ACHILLEAS” operating LEO2 (A4 and HEL) tanks, including a USAREUR – AF Tank Platoon operating Μ1Α2 ABRAMS tanks. The activity will be observed by 19 Observers from Armenia, Bulgaria, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Cyprus.

The Competition will be completed on 10 November 2023 and the Tank Platoons will be evaluated on operational procedures with measurable objective criteria, focusing, among others, on small echelon tactics, firing technique, and tank-related technical matters.
