From Monday, 1 November, to Friday, 5 Nocember 2021, a Tank Platoon Competition took place at the Tank Range in Petrohori, Xanthi, among Armoured Units of D Army Corps “THRAKI” operating LEO2 (A4 and HEL) tanks, including a Tank Platoon of the USAREUR-AF operating Μ1Α1 ABRAMS tanks.

The platoons were evaluated on operational procedures with measurable objective criteria, focusing on small echelon tactics, firing technique, and tank-related technical matters.

The final scores of the Platoons were based on the time required for each crew to complete the tasks and the individual scoring of their skills, particularly the accuracy of the shots fired.

During the competition, the competing crews demonstrated effort, passion, and deep knowledge of the tasks, as well as their high level of training and operational readiness.

The final phase of the competition was attended by the Commanding General of the Hellenic First Army/EU-OHQ “ACHILLEAS”, Lieutenant General Petros Demestichas, the Commanding General of D Army Corps "THRAKI", Lieutenant General Angelos Choudeloudis, the US Military Attaché, Colonel Nathan Mann, as well as 14 observers from Bulgaria, France, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, and Cyprus.
