In the context of activities for personnel welfare, the Hellenic Army General Staff and the Non-profit Company “AKOS: Treatment of the Body and Soul” jointly organised scientific events on “Prevention – a conscientious action” in the Area of Responsibility of the 8th Motorised Brigade “VIII Infantry Division – Epirus”.
In particular, an event was conducted on Friday 18 January 2019 in the hall of the Arta Chamber Conference Centre, on Saturday 19 January 2019 in the Officers Club of Ioannina Garrison and on Sunday 20 January 2019 in the events hall of the Agia Paraskevi of Metsovo Holy Church.
The schedule included significant speeches by distinguished scientists, as follows:
- Dr Despina Katsochi, Radiotherapist - Oncologist, President of AKOS - “Prevention: a conscientious action”.
- Dr Stavroula Tsiara, Pathology Professor – “Prevention of the Metabolic Syndrome”.
- Dr Spyros Gouvalis, Surgeon - Urologist - “Prevention of the Prostate Cancer”.
These lectures which were supported, in terms of communication, by the Epirus Region, were observed by representatives of local authorities, personnel delegations, civilian personnel, Enlisted Soldiers from the surrounding Units, members of the National Guard, as well as people from the local communities.
These scientific events are conducted in the context of a series of informative activities for the benefit of the Army personnel and aim to promote the importance of prevention, as a means of countering the global blight that is cancer.
The actions of personnel welfare go on without respite in 2019!
