On Monday, 04 December 2023, a ceremony was held at the Artillery School in Camp “Georgiadi Thoma” in Nea Peramos, Attica, to celebrate the Patron Saint of the Artillery, the Great Martyr Saint Barbara, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of National Defence, Mr. Ioannis Kefalogiannis, as representative of the Prime Minister, Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Chief of Hellenic National Defence General Staff, General Konstantinos Floros, and the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Angelos Choudeloudis.

The ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament, Mr. Athanasios Bouras, as representative of the Hellenic Parliament, the Leader of the Spartiates political party, Mr. Vasilios Stigas, the Mayor of Megara, Mr. Vasilios Stamoulis, political party representatives, Archimandrite Polyefktos as representative of the Metropolitan of Megara and Salamis, the Honorary Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, General Georgios Kambas (ret.), the Honorary Chief of Cypriot National Guard General Staff, General Georgios Basiakoulis (ret.), the Hellenic Air Force Inspector General, Lieutenant General (HAF) Georgios Karadimas, as representative of the Chief of Hellenic Air Force General Staff, Lieutenant General (HAF) Themistoklis Bourolias, the Commander in Chief of the Hellenic Fleet, Vice Admiral Dimitrios – Eleftherios Kataras HN, as representative of the Chief of Hellenic Navy General Staff, Vice Admiral Ioannis Drymousis HN, and members of the Supreme Military Council.

Also in attendance were the Head of the Hellenic Police Headquarters, Lieutenant General Eleftherios Garilas, as representative of the Chief of the Hellenic Police, Lieutenant General Lazaros Mavropoulos, the 2nd Deputy Chief of the Hellenic Coast Guard, Vice Admiral Aristidis Pantazoglou CG, as representative of the Chief of the Hellenic Coast Guard, Vice Admiral Georgios Alexandrakis CG, the Head of the Firefighting Operations Branch, Fire Service Major General Athanasios Balafas, as representative of the Chief of the Fire Service, Fire Service Lieutenant General Georgios Pournaras, representatives of the local government, foreign Defence Attachés, as well as active duty and retired Artillery Officers.

The ceremony was followed by an artillery weapon systems demonstration and a demonstration of the 105 mil. Howitzer Platoon firing procedure by personnel of the Artillery School. Finally, officials and guests had the opportunity to tour the exhibition of historic vehicles and memorabilia of Artillery heroes such as Artillery Second Lieutenant Pavlos Melas, Lieutenant General Stylianos Kalbourtzis, Major General Dimitrios Kostakis, and Major Konstantinos Versis.
