Field Artillery Weapon System fires were conducted from 15 to 19 November 2021 at the NATO Missile Firing Installation in Crete with personnel, weapon systems, and assets from Artillery Units of the Hellenic First Army/EU-OHQ “ACHILLEAS” and the Higher Military Command of Interior and Islands “AEGEAS”, while USAREUR-AF, Cyprus, Egypt, and the UAE participated with observers.

Specifically, fires were conducted by self-propelled M109 and PzH 2000GR guns, MLRS and RM-70 using upgraded rockets, as well as M101 howitzers.

The objective of the activity was to practice actions and procedures simulating the modern operational environment by conducting all types of Artillery fires and acquiring important experience from serving the guns and from the technique, tactics, and observation of the fires.

The fires were conducted following all prescribed fire support coordination procedures, achieving the maximum possible synergy of weapon systems with the Fire Direction Centres and the Artillery Unit radar systems.
