The Division's emblem features a Centaur holding a bow and arrow. The horse part symbolises the tank, while the human part symbolises the tanker. The shield bears the maxim ΥΠΟ ΣΚΙΗ (in the shade), a phrase which is attributed to the Spartan Dienekes. Dienekes was one of 300 Spartans who fought in Thermopylae in 480 BC under King Leonidas.

The Spartan hoplite is famous for his reply "then we will fight in the shade" when someone said that the Persians were so many, that their arrows would cover the sun.
This phrase, which is a synonym for bravery, boldness, and contempt for death, is part of the Division's emblem and symbolises the Greeks' love for their country.

The Division is a formation imbued with offensive spirit, consisting of personnel with a solid faith in victory, pride in their abilities, a smile, and high confidence.
