Tuesday, 12 December 2023, was Distinguished Visitors Day (DV Day) of Field Exercise “KOLOSSOS-23”, which took place in the Area of Responsibility of the 95th Higher National Guard Battalions Command “DIAGORIDON”, in the presence of the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Angelos Choudeloudis, as representative of the Chief of Hellenic National Defence General Staff, General Konstantinos Floros, with troops and assets of the 95th Higher National Guard Battalions Command “DIAGORIDON”, the 1st Army Aviation Brigade “KILKIS LAHANAS”, the Hellenic Special Warfare Command of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, and a pair of F-16 fighter aircraft of the Hellenic Air Force on Close Air Support (CAS) missions.

The objective of the exercise was to train the personnel on realistic tactical scenarios, maximise cooperation among Units, and promote jointness and common operational perception.

The exercise examined defensive operation operational tasks with mortar, artillery, and tank fires, combined with attack helicopter and fighter aircraft fire with designation from Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTAC). The exercise also examined incidents such as injured soldier recovery and aeromedical evacuation and other logistics-related tasks.

The final stage of the exercise was attended by the Deputy Minister of Shipping and Island Policy, Mr. Ioannis Pappas, the Commanding General of the Hellenic Special Warfare Command of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, Lieutenant General Dimitrios Choupis, the Commanding General of the High Military Command of Interior and Islands “AEGEAS”, Lieutenant General Sotirios Kostakoglou, representatives of the local government, as well as Armed and Security Forces Officers.
