Conduct of FIELD TRAINING EXERCISE “DIMOKRITOS 2021”

From 11 until 18 June 2021, the Field Training Exercise “DIMOKRITOS 2021” was conducted in Xanthi, at the level of Mechanized Infantry Battalion Tactical Group. Second Lieutenants of all Arms and Corps (Class 2020), as well as forces and assets of the XXI Armored Brigade (XXI ARMORED BRIGADE “PINDOS”) and the XXV Armored Brigade (XXV ARMORED BRIGADE “2nd CAVALRY REGIMENT-EFESSOS”) participated in the exercise.

During the exercise, which was conducted under the auspices of the Infantry Directorate of the Hellenic Army General Staff and was planned and organized by the Infantry School in cooperation with the respective Schools of the other Arms and Corps, Artillery, Mortars and Antitank firings were conducted and Armored Personnel Carriers, Tanks, Self-propelled Guns, as well as Attack and Transport Helicopters were used.

At the same time with the Field Training Exercise, the Second Lieutenants were also trained on the field in subjects of Logistics, while the XXI Armored Brigade (XXI ARMORED BRIGADE “PINDOS”) conducted the exemplary Field Training Exercise “Tactical Group of Medium Tank Battalion during the launching of a flank counter attack, in the context of active defence”, as well as recovery of heavy technical material. In addition, the Engineer Command of D Army Corps “THRACE” conducted an exemplary Field Training Exercise “Crossing of Water Obstacle through the construction of a floating bridge and a BELLEY bridge”.

The exercise, which was attended by the Commander of D Army Corps “THRACE” Lieutenant General Angelos Choudeloudis, representing the Chief of HAGS, contributed to the enhancement of the operational training level, the combat effectiveness and the understanding of the trainees who participated in the exercise, and it promoted, at the same time, the cooperation of the Army’s Arms and Corps in the modern battle field.
