From 18 to 22 October 2021, the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Charalampos Lalousis, paid an official visit to the United States of America following an invitation from his counterpart, General James C. McConville.

During his visit, the Chief met at the Pentagon with his counterpart, with whom he exchanged views on matters of mutual interest. The meeting took place in an excellent atmosphere, confirming the common intent for even more enhanced cooperation between the two sides. During the official reception ceremony, the Chief was awarded the Legion of Merit.

Furthermore, the Chief met with the Vice Chief of Staff of the Army, General Joseph M. Martin, the Deputy Assistance Secretary of the Army for Defence Exports & Cooperation, Ms. Elizabeth Wilson, and visited the USMA at West Point, where he met with the Commandant, Lieutenant General Darryl A. Williams, was briefed on its work and mission, and was given a tour of its facilities.

Finally, the Chief visited TRADOC (Training and Doctrine Command) HQ at Fort Eustis, where he met with the Deputy Commanding General, Lieutenant General Maria R. Gervais, the Futures and Concepts Center, also at Fort Eustis, where he met with the Deputy Director, Brigadier General Guy M. Jones, and the Maneuver Center of Excellence at Fort Benning, where he met with the Commanding General, Major General Patrick J. Donahoe.
