On Sunday 19 May 2024, the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, as representative of the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff General Dimitrios Choupis, attended the events for the Day of Remembrance for the Genocide of the Pontian Greeks.

The event included a Memorial Service at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens, presided over by the Theofilestatos (loved by God) Bishop of Evripos Mr Chysostomos, as representative of His Beatitude the Archbishop of Athens and All of Greece Mr Ieronymos Β’, and wreath laying at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
