On Tuesday, 16 April 2024, an event for the “Battle of the Forts” took place at the Municipal Auditorium of Xanthi “KONSTANTINOS BENIS”, in the presence of the Commanding General of D Army Corps “THRAKI”, Lieutenant General Stavros Papastathopoulos.

The event included speeches by Honorary Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, General Charalampos Lalousis (ret.), and writer and historical exhibition organiser Colonel Vasilios Nikoltsios (ret.), who provided exhibits and historical uniforms from his private collection. It also included audiovisual material and a photography exhibition with photos from the collection of Mr. Anastasios Tefronidis and the Nymfea Fort.

The event was attended by his Eminence, the Metropolitan of Metropolitan of Xanthi and Perithori, Mr. Panteleimon, Deputy Head of Region for Xanthi, Ms. Polyxeni Brika, representing the Head of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace,  the Commanding General of C Army Corps/NRDC-GR “MEGAS ALEXANDROS”, Lieutenant General Athanasios Garinis, his Eminence, the Mufti of Komotini, Dr. Cihat Halil, active duty and retired Armed and Security Forces Officers, and other guests.
