On Friday, 25 November 2022, a ceremony was held at the headquarters of D Army Corps “THRAKI” for the unveiling of the Corps’s Fallen Memorial, in the presence of the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Charalampos Lalousis, as representative of the Chief of Hellenic National Defence General Staff.

The Memorial was constructed with D Army Corps funds, as well as donations from Mr. Georgios Dimitrakis and the companies GANIS SA, FHL KYRIAKIDIS GROUP, and EGNATIA ODOS SA.

The ceremony was attended by the Commanding General of D Army Corps “THRAKI”, Lieutenant General Ioannis Tsioplos, Mr. Georgios Dimitrakis, Mr. Stavros Ganis, CEO of GANIS SA, Mr. Antonios Paschalis, member of the Board of EGNATIA ODOS SA, the Deputy head of Region for Rodopi, Mr. Nikolaos Tsalikidis as representative of the Head of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, the Mayor of Xanthi, Mr. Emmanouil Tsepelis, the Metropolitan of Xanthi and Peritheorio, Mr. Panteleimon, honorary D Army Corps Commanders, as well as Armed and Security Forces officers.

After the ceremony, the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff presented an award at the D Army Corps headquarters to the 211th Medium Tank Battalion for first place at the Tank Platoon Competition that took place in Petrohori, Xanthi.
