The Hellenic Army General Staff, within the framework of the Army’s constant interest in the personnel’s physical and mental health, proceeded to the pilot implementation for a period of 2 months of the Holistic Health and Fitness Programme already implemented by the US Army on a representative number of Hellenic Military Academy (Evelpidon) cadets and Career NCO School students.

The Holistic Health and Fitness Management Programme includes the following stages:

– Formation of a committee consisting of PE Teachers, Doctors, Psychologists, and Nutritionists.

– Recording of the somatometric data of participants before, during, and after the Programme.

– Preparation – implementation of a special nutrition programme.

– Medical check-up in Army Hospitals.

– Implementation of special and personalised training programmes.

– Counselling (by special scientists).

– Conclusions and submission of proposals after the conclusion of the action.

The goal of this programme is to convince that physical health is closely connected to nutrition and physical training and is a way of life, not a form of punishment, that has a decisive impact on an individual’s mental and spiritual health.
