On Sunday, 6 November 2022, an event was held in honour of fallen Cavalrymen of the 1940 Epic at the Cavalry memorial in Metsovo, in the presence of the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Charalampos Lalousis, as representative of the Chief of Hellenic National Defence General Staff.

The ceremony included a doxology at the Church of Aghia Paraskevi, a memorial service, and wreath laying at the Cavalry Memorial in honour of the fallen Cavalrymen of the 1940 Epic.

The ceremony was also attended by Ms. Panaghiota Mitrokosta as representative of the Head of the Region of Epirus, the Mayor of Metsovo, Mr. Konstantinos Tzafeas, the Metropolitan of Ioannina, Mr. Maximos, the Commanding General of the Higher Army Support Military Command “THISEAS”, Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, the Commanding General of C Army Corps/NRDC-GR “MEGAS ALEXANDROS”, Lieutenant General Sotirios Kostakoglou, the former Deputy Minister of National Defence and Honorary Chief HAGS, General Alkiviadis Stefanis (ret.), the President of the Retired Cavalry – Armour Officers Association, Lieutenant General Dimitrios Kyriakos (ret.), as well as active duty and retired Army Officers.
