The Peacetime mission of the Infantry is to train the personnel, to maintain its equipment and to participate in higher echelons exercises thus maintaining combat effectiveness at a proper level; furthermore its mission includes the preparing and updating of the relevant war mission plans.

Its Wartime mission is to fight using fire, manoeuvre and movement, under any weather conditions, at any terrain type, day and night, to seize a position, to destroy or capture the enemy, to expel the enemy from its positions and to secure the occupied area, repelling the enemy attack through fires, close combat and counterattacks.
