On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, in the presence of the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff General Dimitrios Choupis and the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, a ceremony was held to unveil the statue of Ioannis Kapodistrias, founder of the Hellenic Army Academy (Evelpidon) and first governor of Greece, in the area in front of the Academy’s Memorial for the Fallen, which was donated by the “FHL Kiriakidis Group”.
The ceremony included a Memorial Service and a speech by the Academy’s Commander, Major General Vasileios Lambropoulos, followed by the unveiling of the statue.
The unveiling of this statue marks the start of the anniversary celebrations commemorating the 200th anniversary of the founding of the Academy, the cradle of our Nation’s hopes.
The ceremony was honoured by the presence of the Mayor of Vari, Voula, Vouliagmeni Mr. Grigoris Konstantellos, the Metropolitan Antonios of Glyfada, Elliniko, Voula, Vouliagmeni, and Vari, members of the Higher Military Council, the Chairman and Managing Director of “FHL Kiriakidis Group” Mr. Ilias Kiriakidis, Directors of HAGS Staff Directorates and Directorates, and officers of the Armed Forces.
