From 26 to 30 August 2024, geodetic and geophysical surveying was carried out at Olympus mountain by the Army Geographical Service.

The purpose of the action was to include the highest peak of Olympus mountain and Greece (Mytikas) into the State trigonometric network.

Teaching staff from Universities, members of the personnel of the Athens National Astronomical Observatory and the Greek Land Registry participated in the activities. Moreover, members of the personnel from the Mountain Combat – Skiers Training Center contributed to the implementation of the above action.

The inclusion of Mytikas into the state trigonometric network is considered as of paramount scientific importance and will contribute significantly to the enrichment of the national geodetic infrastructure.
