On Saturday 14 September 2024, the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis attended the ceremony for the acceptance of two ESCAPE DEFENCE 38-type high-speed crafts that was held in Kardamyla – Chios. The crafts were donated by the Chairman of the “Maria Tsakos” Public Benefit Foundation – International Centre for Maritime Research and Tradition, Captain Panagiotis Tsakos, to the Hellenic Army.

The ceremony was honoured by the presence of the MPs for Chios Region Messrs. Notis Mitarakis and Stavros Michailidis, the Mayor of Chios Mr. Ioannis Malafis, the Metropolitan Bishop Markos of Chios, Psara and Oinouses, who also officiated the ceremony, the Public Prosecutor at the Chios Court of First Instance Ms. Sofia Diploidou, the Deputy Governor of Chios Mr. Pantelis Vroulis, the Mayor of Oinouses Mr. Georgios Daniil, member of the Foundation’s Board of Directors, Officers on active duty and retired Officers, and other guests.
