On Saturday, 20 May 2019, an official ceremony was held at Stefanovikio Airfield in Magnisia to celebrate Prophet Elias, Patron Saint of Army Aviation, in the presence of the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kambas. The ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Commanding General of the Hellenic First Army/EU-OHQ, Major General Ioannis Papanagnostou, the Director of the Army Aviation Directorate of the Hellenic Army General Staff, Major General Christos Iliopoulos, the Commanding General of the I Infantry Division “SMYRNI”, Major General Savvas Kolokouris, representatives of the political, local, and religious authorities, as well as crowds of locals.
The ceremony schedule included a doxology, wreath laying, and a demonstration of weapon systems and air assets.
