Lieutenant General Andreas Koronakis

Lieutenant General Andreas Koronakis was born in Athens in 1964. He was admitted to the Hellenic Army Academy (Evelpidon) in 1983 and graduated in 1987, as Second Lieutenant of the Engineer Corps.

As a Junior Officer, he served in Units of the Engineer Corps as Platoon Leader and Company Commander.

He has graduated from all the required schools of the Engineer Corps. He has graduated from the Engineer Officers Technical Training School.

In 2007, he graduated from the Hellenic Supreme Joint War College.

During his career as a Junior Officer, he served as Engineers Commander of the II Mechanised Infantry Division and of B’ Army Corps, as Director of the 736th Military Works Directorate and as Commander of the Engineer Corps Training Centre.

Upon being promoted to Colonel in 2012, he attended the Hellenic National Defence College, and subsequently assumed the duties of Engineers Commander of the Supreme Military Command of Interior and Islands.

In 2017, he was promoted to Brigadier General and assumed the duties of Director General of the Autonomous Officers’ Building Organisation.

In 2020, he was promoted to Major General and in 2021 he was appointed C’ Staff Director of Hellenic Army General Staff.

On 17 January 2023, upon decision of the Governmental National Security Council, he was promoted to Lieutenant General and assumed the duties of Deputy Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff.

On 11 January 2025, upon decision of the Governmental National Security Council, he assumed the Duties of Army Inspector General – Deputy Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff.

Lieutenant General Andreas Koronakis has been awarded all decorations, commendations and medals, as such are provided for by his rank.

He has two children:

• Aggeliki, 30 years old, Historian

• Aristea, 26 years old, Civil Engineer
