On Wednesday, 08 August 2018, the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Alkiviadis Stefanis, visited the 651st Base Ordnance Depot in Aghios Stefanos, Attica. The 651st Base Ordnance Depot is a Logistics Formation with a vital role in the Army’s supply chain, whose mission is to schedule and support the Units with supplies of all classes, except for ammunition.
During his visit, the Chief was given a tour of the Camp facilities, inspected the warehouses where the Kiowa helicopter materiel and spare parts received so far are kept, and discussed with military and civilian personnel. He then addressed the military and civilian personnel:
– congratulating them for the development of the state-of-the-art electronic database and the installation of a state-of-the-art computerised system for Army managed materiel.
– stressing that professional routine and repetition are the greatest enemies of the working environment and a contributing factor to everyday psychological exhaustion. In order to deal with these, he suggested switching duties, getting personally involved in the support the Command must provide to the personnel, stressing enthusiasm, the adoption of innovative thinking, and taking the initiative as fundamental factors of success in everyday work.
Finally, the Chief confirmed the great professionalism, high morale, optimism, and gallantry of all personnel in fulfilling their mission.
