On Sunday, March 18th 2018, the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Alkiviadis Stefanis, visited the Area of Responsibility of the 98th Higher National Guard Battalions Command “ARCHIPELAGOS”, where he attended the training of Militiamen of the National Guard Battalions of Mytilene, Antissa, Polichnitos and Kalloni.
The training included theoretical subjects on individual and crew-served armaments, as well as First Aid.
At the completion of theoretical subjects, fires with all kinds of weapons took place.
The Chief had the opportunity to confirm the excellent organisation and conduct of the training, as well as the unbreakable bond between the Active Army, the National Guard and the Reserve Force.
Then, the Chief, addressed to trainees, congratulated them for their readiness and their winning spirit, by specifically emphasizing the army’s high morale and optimism. He also noted that the Army’s combat power, vigilance and readiness are demonstrated on a daily basis, as exemplified recently by the immediate response and deployment of personnel and assets during the incident in Agathonisi for saving our fellow human beings.
Finally, he stressed the strong mental links between the Armed Forces and the society, which are the best way to guarantee the safeguarding of our country’s territorial integrity and the prevention of any threat no matter where it comes from.
