On Friday 16 July 2021, the oath-taking ceremony of the new Career Sergeants from Class 2021 “Staff Sergeant (INF) Dimitrios Itsios”, took place at the Career NCOs College in Trikala, before the Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr Alkiviadis Stefanis, who also awarded the diplomas to the oath-takers.
The Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff Lieutenant General Charalambos Lalousis, the Commander of the 1st Army/EU-OHQ “ACHILLEAS” Lieutenant General Petros Demestichas, the Army Inspector General – Commander of Doctrine and Training Lieutenant General Angelos Ilaridis, representatives of the Church and the Local Self-Government, as well as relatives of the new Career Sergeants attended the ceremony.
Mr Anastasios Itsios and Ms Olga Itsiou, son and granddaughter, correspondingly, of the Hero Dimitrios Itsios, who sacrificed himself for the Homeland during the Battle of the Forts, in April 1941, were also present.
On the whole, 194 Career Sergeants took the oath, of whom 178 were from Greece and 16 were from Cyprus.
