On Thursday 28 November 2024, the Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. Giannis Kefalogiannis and the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, as representative of Hellenic National Defence General Staff, General Dimirios Houpis, attended the DV – Day of FTX GOLDEN SWORD – 24 (GOSW-24), which was held in “ASKOS-PROFITIS” Firing Range by C’ Army Corps/NRDC-GR “MEGAS ALEXANDROS”. Sections of the 2nd Mechanised Infantry Brigade “ELASSON”, the XXIVth Armour Brigade “1st CAVALRY REGIMENT – FLORINA”, the 71st Airmobile Brigade “PONDOS”, the 1st Army Aviation Brigade “KILKIS LAHANA”, the 10th Infantry Regiment “Xth INFANTRY DIVISION”, personnel of the Special Warfare Command, as well as two F-16 Aircraft and one C-130 transport aircraft of the Hellenic Air Force participated in the event.
FTX “GOLDEN SWORD – 24 (GOSW-24)” was carried out from 25 to 29 November 2024 and was a LIVEX/FTX (Live Exercise/Field Training Exercise).
In addition, an airmobile Group of the Bulgarian Army, a Special Forces Group of the French Army, as well as Observers from Bulgaria, France, and Romania participated in the exercise.
The participants had the opportunity to thoroughly train throughout the exercise, in scenarios of tactical level offensive operations, as well as in Special Forces Operations, with the utilisation of parachutists and the aim of improving the training and operational capabilities of the participants.
The final stage of the exercise was observed by:

- Commanding General of of C’ Army Corps/NRDC-GR “MEGAS ALEXANDROS, Lieutenant General Athanasios Garinis.
- Captain Dimitrios Patsikas HN, as representative of the Chief of Hellenic Navy General Staff, Vice Admiral Dimitrios – Eleftherios Kataras HN.
- Colonel (HAF) Pandelis Makridis as representative of the Chief of Hellenic Air Force General Staff, Lieutenant General (HAF) Dimosthenis Grigoriadis.
- Ambassadors, Defence Attachés, and ally country Officials.
- Active duty and retired Officers of the Army.
- Representatives of local governments, the Church of Greece, and other guests.
