On Thursday 07 November 2024, the Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikos Dendias, the Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. Giannis Kefalogiannis, the Chief of Hellenic National Defence General Staff, General Dimitrios Houpis, and the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, attended the Distinguished Visitors Day – DV Day in Litohoro Tank Firing Range, as well as FTX “EPONYMOUS HERO – 24”, in which sections and assets of XXIV Armour Brigade “1st CAVALRY REGIMENT – FLORINA”, the 1st Army Aviation Brigade “KILKIS LAHANA”, and personnel of the Special Warfare Command (B’ Commando Squadron – 2nd Parachutist Squadron) participated.
FTX “EPONYMOUS HERO-24” took place from 04 to 08 November 2024, in the framework of training of reserves for the year 2024, and in the the spirit of the “Agenda 2030” of the Ministry of National Defence, which defines the importance of a civilian-soldier (reserve) for the nation. In particular, the purpose of the exercise was to train personnel in realistic tactical scenarios.
Additionally, what was realised was the great voluntary participation of Reserves, the high morale, and their will to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the high level of operational training and personnel readiness.
The final stage of the Exercise was observed by the Assistant Minister of Development and MP for Pieria Ms. Anna Evangelou Mani – Papadimitriou, MPs for Pieria Mr. Spyridon Koulkoudinas and Mr. Xenophon Baraliakos, the Commanding General of 1st Army/EU-OHQ “ACHILLEAS”, Lieutenant General Dimokritos Konstandakos, the Commanding General of D’ Army Corps “THRAKI”, Lieutenant General Stavros Papastathopoulos, the Commanding General of the Special Warfare Command, Lieutenant General Prokopios Mavraganis, and the Commanding General of C’ Army Corps NRDC-GR “MEGAS ALEXANDROS”, Lieutenant General Athanasios Garinis, as well as Officers of the Armed and Security Forces.
