On Friday, 30 March 2018, a ceremony was held in the Army Aviation School in Alexandria, Imathia, for the award of degrees and the aviation officer’s wings to 10 helicopter pilots who graduated from the 36th and 37th Army Aviation training classes, as well as for the award of flight instructor degrees to 4 helicopter pilots of the 1st Hellenic Air Force training class.
The induction course of the 36th and 37th training classes was 44 weeks long and included theoretical subjects and flight training, during which the trainees completed the day and night flight hours required. The new pilots will be assigned to Army Aviation Units.
The Hellenic Air Force flight instructor course was 7 weeks long. It included theoretical subjects and flight training, during which the trainees completed the day and night flight hours required. The graduates will be used as flight and ground instructors in the Army Aviation School, thus contributing to the training provided by the joint helicopter pilot course. This will decisively enhance jointness and interoperability between the Services, thus saving personnel, assets, and resources, to the benefit of the country’s Armed Forces.
The ceremony was attended by civilian, municipal, and religious authorities, active duty and retired General Officers, as well as families of the graduates.
The degrees were awarded to the graduates by the Director of the Army Aviation Directorate of HAGS, Brigadier General Christos Iliopoulos.
