On Monday 11 November 2024, the Minister of National Defence, Mr. Nikos Dendias and the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, as representative of the Chief of Hellenic National General Staff, attended the anniversary ceremonies for the 112 Years since the Liberation of Kastoria.
Among other things, the festivities included a Liturgy in the Holy Church of Virgin Mary Mouzevikis – Patron Saint St. Minas of Kastoria, as well as a litany of the Holy Icon of St. Minas the Miracle Worker and His Holy Relics, which began in the Holy Church of St. Minas and ended in the Holy Metropolitan Church of Kastoria. Following, a Memorial Service took place in the Statue of Germanos Karavangelis in Voria Paralia, where wreaths were laid and a parade on Megas Alexandros Avenue followed.
The anniversary festivities were also attended by MP Maria Andoniou, the Head of Region for Western Macedonia Giorgos Amanatidis, the Mayor of Kastoria Giannis Korentsidis, the Metropolitan of Kastoria Mr. Kallinikos, the Metropolitan of Dimitriada and Almyros Mr. Ignatios, the Chief of Hellenic Navy General Staff, Vice Admiral Dimitrios – Eleftherios Kataras HN, the Chief of Hellenic Air Force General Staff, Lieutenant General (HAF) Dimosthenis Grigoriadis, the Commanding General of C’ Army Corps/NRDC-GR “MEGAS ALEXANDROS”, Lieutenant General Athanasios Garinis, the Deputy Head of Region for Kastoria Dimitrios Savvopoulos, representatives of Local Government and Church Institutions, active duty and retired officers of the Armed and Security Forces, as well as other guests.
