Basic Parachutist Training Course for Military Institution Cadets and Students

On Tuesday, 07 August 2018, the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Alkiviadis Stefanis, attended activities of the Basic Parachutist Training Course, which is attended by 71 Hellenic Military Academy (Evelpidon) cadets and 37 Career NCO School students.

Before the training jump, the Chief went to the Drop Zone of Megara, where a blessing was held by the Metropolitan of Mesogea and Lavreotiki, Mr. Nikolaos. The Chief then addressed the trainees, congratulating the future Army leaders for:
– their decision to volunteer for this Parachutist training, thus waiving part of their summer leave to this end.
– their constant effort for self-improvement, thus showing their high morale.

The Chief also highlighted the Army’s social contribution, stressing that the same helicopters used to perform the training jump are used every day for aeromedical evacuation and forest firefighting missions, making our fellow citizens feel safe.

Finally, all trainees successfully conducted their static line parachute jump from a CH-47 Chinook helicopter from an altitude of 1200 ft (400 m).

We wish all cadets and students safe jumps and a successful graduation from the Basic Parachutist Training Course.
