From June 15 to 16, 2026, the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, paid an official visit to the Republic of Cyprus.

During his visit, the Chief went to the headquarters of the Cyprus National Guard General Staff, where he was welcomed by Deputy Chief Lieutenant General Neofytos Pachoulidis and met with the Cypriot Minister of Defence, Mr. Vasilis Palmas, with whom he exchanged views on matters of mutual interest.

The Chief then visited the Holy Archdiocese of Cyprus, where he met with His Beatitude Archbishop George of Cyprus.

He then held a private meeting with the Greek Ambassador to Nicosia, Mr. Konstantinos Kollias, with whom he discussed, among other things, the current geopolitical situation in the wider region.

Finally, the Chief visited the headquarters of the Hellenic Force in Cyprus (ELDYK) at the “Lieutenant General SOTIRIOS STAVRIANAKOS” Camp, where he was briefed on the mission, operational activities and training exercises of the Formation, addressed the personnel, and provided guidance.
