On Friday 13 June 2025, his Excellency the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Christodoulidis, the Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. Thanasis Davakis, as representative of the Hellenic Government, and the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, as representative of the Chief of Hellenic National Defence General Staff, General Dimitrios Houpis, attended the unveiling ceremony of the Grave Stele in honour of Greek Soldiers and Officers Serving in Cyprus and the burial of the remains of Fallen Soldier Charalambos Samlian, which were held in Keramoti, Kavala.
The ceremony included a memorial service, the placement of the ossuary at the Grave Stele, the unveiling of the monument, and the laying of wreaths. The President of the Republic of Cyprus Mr. Nikos Christodoulidis, the Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. Thanasis Davakis, the Mayor of Nestos Mr. Savvas Michailidis, and the Honorary Chairman of the Cyprus Union of Bank Employees Mr. Loizos Chatzikostis made brief addresses during the ceremony.
The ceremony was also attended by the MP for Kavala, Mr. Nikos Panagiotopoulos, as representative of the Hellenic Parliament, MPs for Kavala Ms. Aggeliki Delikari and Mr. Ioannis – Adam Pashalidis, the Head of Region for Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Mr. Christodoulos Topsidis, the Metropolitan of Filippi, Neapoli, and Thasos, Mr. Stefanos, the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus in Athens, Mr. Stavros Avgoustidis, the Commanding General of C Army Corps (NRDC-GR) “ALEXANDER THE GREAT”, Lieutenant General Athanasios Garinis, the Consul General of the Republic of Cyprus in Thessaloniki, Mr. Konstantinos Polykarpou, the Deputy Head of Region for Kavala, Mr. Theodoros Markopoulos, the Mayor of Kavala, Mr. Theodoros Mouriadis, representatives of Local Governments, Officers of the Armed Forces, relatives of the Fallen Hero, as well as other guests.
