On Monday 26 May 2025, Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis attended the inauguration ceremony of the new headquarters and two Company buildings of the 546th Airmobile Infantry Battalion, which was held in Camp “CHIEFTAIN IOANNIS DASKALOGIANNIS”, in Heraklion, Crete. Throughout the ceremony, the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff was accompanied by the Commanding General of the Supreme Military Command of Interior and Islands “AEGEUS”, Lieutenant General Emmanouil Theodorou and the Commanding General of the 5th Airmobile Brigade “V CRETANS DIVISION”, Brigadier General Nikolaos Kostakis.

The ceremony was attended by his Grace the Bishop of Knosos Mr. Methodios, who also officiated the ceremony, as representative of the Archbishop of Crete Mr. Evgenios, the Deputy Head of Region for Heraklion, Mr. Nikolaos Syrigonakis, representatives of the Hellenic Police and Fire Service Departments, as well as the Port Authority of Heraklion, the President of the Heraklion Retired Army Officers Association, Lieutenant Colonel (ret.) Stavros Kalogerakis, the President of the Heraklion Prefecture Reserve Officers Association, Reserve Captain Pandelis Kroustalakis, representatives of the contracting company, active-duty Armed Forces Officers, as well as other guests.
