On Saturday 26 April 2025, in the presence of the Minister of National Defence Mr Nikolaos Dendias, the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff General Dimitrios Choupis and the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, at the premises of the Hellenic Army Academy (Evelpidon), a one-day conference was conducted on the “Reorganisation of the Institution of Reserves”, in the framework of “Agenda 2030”.
The goal of the One-day Conference was the improvement of the operational capabilities of the Hellenic Armed Forces, through the heightening of operational readiness of the reserves and the reformation of the institutional and operational framework governing the reserves.
During the commencement of the Conference’s proceedings, the Minister of National Defence Mr Nikolaos Dendias briefly addressed the audience, followed by the Metropolitan Bishop of Peristeri and Reserve Officer of Artillery Mr Grigorios, the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, the President of the Supreme Panhellenic Federation of Reserve Officers Reserve Captain (Ordnance) Kostaras Filippos and the President of the Pancyprian Federation of Reserve Officers Reserve Major (INF) Manoulos Kypros.
Other attendees of the one-day conference were the MP and Chairman of the Committee on Armament Programmes and Contracts of the Hellenic Parliament Mr Angelos Syrigos, the MP Ms Irini Kasimati, the MP Mr Stylianos Fotopoulos, the Deputy Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff Rear Admiral Spyridon Lagaras HN as representative of the Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff Vice Admiral Dimitrios-Eleftherios Kataras HN, the Director of Β’ Branch of the Hellenic Air Force General Staff Major General (Pilot) Marios Bantouvas as representative of the Chief of HAFGS Lieutenant General (Pilot) Dimosthenis Grigoriadis, Members of the Supreme Military Council, the former Minister of Citizen’s Protection and Honorary Chief of HAGS General (ret.) Charalambos Lalousis, the Honorary Chief of HAGS General (ret.) Konstantinos Ginis, representatives of Reserve Officers Associations from Regions throughout Greece, active and retired Officers of the Armed and Security Forces and representatives of local bodies.
A speech was given by the MP and Chairman of the Committee on Armament Programmes and Contracts of the Hellenic Parliament Mr Angelos Syrigos and Models of Reserves of the General Staffs of Greece and Allied States were presented. The Conference’s Moderator was the journalist and Reserve Officer of Armour Kostas Sarikas.
