On Friday May 11 2018, at HAGS Headquarters, the Honorary Hellenic Army Inspector General, Lieutenant General (Rtd) Christos FOTOPOULOS delivered a lecture on the 190 years (1828 – 2018) of contribution of the Military Academy to the homeland, during peacetime and wartime periods.
The lecture included among others, a historical flashback of the School operation from the time it was established till today, an extensive report of the battles in which the cadets had participated, as well as the diachronic contribution of the Academy to the society as a whole.
The lecture was attended, apart from the personnel of HAGS, by a number of graduates of the 1950 Class, classmates of the lecturer, who were also honoured for their contribution and services to the Homeland. A very touching speech was delivered by the president of the veterans association of the 1950 Class, which was the second most numerous in the long-lasting course of the Military Academy, numbering 456 students. The retired colleagues expressed their especially favourable comments on the honour made to them for their contribution. Being very touched, they expressed their content for being surprised by being shown a number of historic photos from their activities.
