On Friday, 10 August 2018, the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Alkiviadis Stefanis, visited the Infantry Reserve Officers School, which has been based in “DASKALOGIANNI” Camp in Heraklion, Crete, since 1953.
The Chief was given a tour of the School facilities and then went to the School’s proving ground to attend a Field Exercise, during which the 2018 B Enlistment Series Candidate Reserve Officers were called to put the knowledge they acquired into action.
After the conclusion of the exercise, the Chief addressed the trainees and all career personnel of the Heraklion Garrison:
– highlighting the social contribution of the Army which, within the framework of the Armed Forces’ contribution to the fire-stricken residents of Attica, as well as in any case of natural disaster, contributes unsparingly with personnel, equipment, and assets in order to relieve our fellow citizens affected and rapidly restore infrastructure.
– referred to the great importance of the education provided by the Infantry Reserve Officers School, which prepares the Candidate Reserve Officers physically and mentally in order to serve as Potential Reserve Officers in Army Units.
– stressing to the trainees the high requirements they are called to meet in order to stand up to the long history of the institution of Reserve Officers.
The Chief had the opportunity to confirm the high morale and gallantry of all personnel and wished our future Reserve Officers a successful training and a happy graduation.
