On Wednesday, 23 June 2021, the graduation and oath taking ceremony of the new Second Lieutenants (Class of 2021) “Major Constantinos Tzavelas”, was held at the Hellenic Army Academy, Vari, Attica, in the presence of Her Excellency, the President of the Hellenic Republic, Ms. Katerina Sakellaropoulou, who presented the newly commissioned officers with their swords.
The ceremony was attended by the President of the Hellenic Parliament, Mr. Constantinos Tasoulas, the Minister of National Defence, Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos, the Deputy Minister of National Defence, Mr. Alkiviadis Stefanis, the HNDGS/Chief General Constantinos Floros, the HAFGS/Chief Lieutenant General Georgios Blioumis, the HAGS/Chief Lieutenant General Charalambos Lalousis, the HNGS/Chief Vice Admiral Stylianos Petrakis, the Chief of the Hellenic Police Lieutenant General Mihail Karamalakis, the Chief of the Port Police-Hellenic Coast Guard Vice Admiral Theodoros Kliaris and the Chief of the Fire Service Lieutenant General Stefanos Kolokouris. The ceremony was also attended by representatives of political parties, of the Church and of the Local governance authorities, as well as by relatives of the new Second Lieutenants.
230 Second Lieutenants took the oath in total, out of whom 189 come from Greece, 35 from Cyprus, 1 from Armenia, 2 from Bosnia-Herzegovina, 1 from Montenegro and 2 from Moldavia.
