On Saturday, 06 November 2021, within the framework of the updated Mutual Defence Cooperation Agreement (MDCA) between Greece and the USA and the international collaborations with friendly and allied countries planned by the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, the opening ceremony for the Field Exercise “OLYMPIC COOPERATION-21” was held in Petrochori, Xanthi, with the participation of units of the XXV Armored Brigade “2nd CAVALRY REGIMENT – EPHESUS” and American Forces of the 1st Battalion / 16th Infantry Regiment / 1st Infantry Division, while Cyprus and Egypt participate with observer status.
The exercise “OLYMPIC COOPERATION-21”, which is carried out from November 6 to November 16 2021 in the Exercise Field – Shooting Range of Petrochori, Xanthi, is a dual action field exercise at Medium Tank Battalion Tactical Group level with the use of Tactical Engagement Simulation Systems with the aim of maintaining and further developing the cooperation and strong ties between the Greek and American Armed Forces. It also aims at increasing the interoperability and the capacity of the participants in the planning, organization and execution of Combined Arms operations.
