On Saturday 09 November 2024, the opening ceremony of the international Exercise “OLYMPIC COOPERATION – 24” was held. The Exercise will take place from 11 to 22 November 2024, in the framework of international relations of the Army among Armed Forces sections of Greece, Albania, Armenia, Austria, Bulgaria, France, Georgia, Jordan, and Cyprus in the base of XXV Armour Brigade in Petrohori, Xanthi. Observers and Partners will also participate in the Exercise.
During the exercise, the participants will train in defence scenarios and tactical level offensive operations, while live fire execution is included, with the aim to increase the level of operational readiness, combat capabilities, mutual understanding, technical expertise, and cooperation between the participating forces.
The ceremony was attended by the Commanding General of D’ Army Corps “THRAKI”, Lieutenant General Stavros Papastathopoulos, the Commanding General of the XX Armour Division “CAVALRY DIVISION -MAKEDONIA”, Major General Ilias Kostakis, and the Commanding General of XXV Armour Brigade “2nd CAVALRY BRIGADE – EFESSOS” Brigadier General Ilias Tsevdos.
