On Thursday 17 October 2024, in the framework of the festivities for the National Celebration of the 28th October 1940, the opening of the exhibition entitled “Atelos Apo To Metopo” took place in Larissa Garrison Officers Club , and was attended by the Commanding General of 1st ARMY/EU-OHQ “ACHILLEAS”, Lieutenant General Dimokritos Konstandakos.
The purpose of the exhibition was to point out the significant role of the Army Post Corps and its contribution in boosting the morale of Greeks, something that led to the Saga of 1940. The Exhibition includes authentic post cards and letters sent by soldiers from the front to their families and vice versa, as well as objects of the Army Post Service dating from various time periods.
In particular, during the opening of the Exhibition, the Commanding General of 1st ARMY/EU-OHQ “ACHILLEAS”, Lieutenant General Dimokritos Konstandakos made an address, and a brief presentation of the history of the Army Post Corps by Captain (POST) Lambrini Terzoudi followed. After the ceremony, the guests were given a guided tour of the exhibition.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by the Mayor of Larissa, Mr. Athanasios Mamakos, the Metropolitan of Larissa and Tyrnavos, Mr. Ieronymos, the Deputy Head of Region for Larissa Ms. Maria Galliou as representative of the Head of Region for Thessaly, Mr. Dimitrios Kouretas, the Deputy Chief of Tactical Air Force, Major General (HAF) Nikolaos Kokkonis as representative of the Chief of Tactical Air Force, Lieutenant General (HAF) Panagiotis Georgakopoulos, representatives of Local Government, active duty and retired officers of the Armed and Security Forces, and other guests.
