Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff attends Festivities for the Anniversary of 120 years since the death of Pavlos Melas

From 12 to 13 October 2024, the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, attended the festivities which took place in Kastoria, for the completion of 120 years since the beginning of the Macedonian Struggle and the sacrifice of Second Lieutenant (ART) Pavlos Melas.

More specifically, the festivities included a Memorial Service at the Monument of Pavlos Melas, which was officiated by his Eminence the Metropolitan of Kastoria, Mr. Kallinikos, as well as the laying of wreaths and a speech regarding the Celebration of the Beginning of the Macedonian Struggle by the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis.

The festivities were also attended by MP for Kastoria, Ms. Maria Andoniou, the Mayor of Kastoria, Mr. Ioannis Korentsidis, his Eminence the Metropolitan of Servia and Kozani, Mr. Pavlos, his Eminence the Metropolitan of Florina, Prespes, and Eordea, Mr. Irineos, the Commanding General of C Army Corps/NRDC-GR “MEGAS ALEXANDROS”, Lieutenant General Athanasios Garinis, the Deputy Head of Region for Kastoria, Mr. Dimitris Savvopoulos, representatives of Local Government and Church Authorities, active duty and retired officers of the Armed and Security Forces, and other guests.
