On Wednesday, 25 April 2018, the Innovation Committee’s 2nd Meeting was convened, in the framework of the actions established by HAGS, regarding examining innovative ideas and best practices.

The committee examined the 1st Meeting proposals’ progress, as well as its Members’  new innovative proposals, in the fields of Technology, Training-Further Education, Resources Saving and Cooperation with non-military organizations.

The evolution and the innovation, as an important constituent of its status, are the foundation of HAGS basic message ‘We defend the present-We shape the Future’.

On Friday, 27 April 2018, the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Alkiviadis Stefanis, visited the Signals School, which is located in Haidari, Attica, and attended training activities, conducted by the Military Academy Second Lieutenants/Class 2017 of the Signals School Basic Course.

During training, Signals assets and systems were deployed and a presentation took place, regarding troops’ tactical movement during a digital rockdrill.

Upon termination of the training, the Chief addressed the new Second Lieutenants and pointed out the importance of the continuous trials and practice, before implementing any operational plan. He also pointed out the need for constant self-improvement at all levels, since as new officers, they constitute the hope for the future of the Army and the Armed Forces in general.

On Thursday, 26 April 2018, a memorial service was held, in honour of the 603 Arkadian Officers and Soldiers who fell in action, during the 1940-1941 operations, at the Tripolis Arkadians War Memorial; the memorial service was attended by the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Alkiviadis Stefanis.

The Memorial was built in 2004, so that people remember and honour the fallen Arkadians, during the aforementioned military operations at the 11 Infantry Regiment Camp (‘ARGYROKASTRO’). The memorial was  constructed  by the initiative of Mr Argyris Petronotis, architect  and professor in Thessaloniki Aristotelion University. With the contribution of the Hellenic Army General Staff and the support of the local authorities, its face-lift was completed and the public can now visit it.

On the 19th and the 20th 2018, the Commander of the Higher Military Command of Interior and Islands ‘AIGEAS’, Lieutenant General Nikolaos Manolakos, visited the 88 Military Command Area of Responsibility (‘LIMNOS’) and the 41 Infantry Regiment Tactical Command – ‘SARANTA EKKLESIES’.

The activity confirmed the personnel’s excellent organization, high level of training and operational readiness, high morale and optimism, in the execution of their duties.

On Friday, 20 April 2018, he attended, as representative of the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff, the celebration of the Kallipolis Battle, in Moudros, Limnos.

From Monday April 16 to Friday April 20  2018, the FIELD TRAINING EXERCISE ‘VERSIS 2018’  of the Military Academy Second Lieutenants Basic Training Course, Class 2017, was conducted at the Thebes Firing and Exercise Range, which constitutes the cap-stone of their training in Field Artillery.

Tactical movement exercises of Mechanised Battery level, direct fires, as well as practice of the procedure ‘strike and move’, with live fire, were conducted.
